A table for all occasions: SIMEON presents a mobile operating table for maximum OR flexibility

A wide variety of operations usually take place in operating theatres. To simplify the changeover between different disciplines, a flexible operating room infrastructure is a great help. To maximize the flexibility of the operating room, SIMEON Medical has developed the Sim.MOVE 800 together with expert practitioner. An OR table that can be easily adapted to all conditions and is therefore universally suitable for all common applications. Sim.MOVE 800 can also be used in hybrid operating theatres: With its large longitudinal translation and thus an extended X-ray window, a change to an X-ray table is no longer necessary. Thanks to its high maximum load of 454 kg, the table can also be used for bariatric patients.

SIMEON placed early emphasis on dialog with medical professionals during the development of the Sim.MOVE 800. The knowledge gained from this collaboration, combined with SIMEON's 20 years of experience in the surgical field, resulted in the Sim.MOVE 800: a practical, reliable operating table that facilitates everyday work in the operating room while increasing patient safety and comfort. The table can carry extreme loads of up to 454 kg. The innovative Automatic Floorlock System (AFS, optional) ensures maximum stability of the table during surgery, optionally also with innovative floor unevenness compensation. In addition, the Sim.MOVE 800 is effortlessly maneuverable - thanks to an optional fifth extendable wheel in the table base. The optional "2-DRIVE" traction drive helps to move the table smoothly even under maximum load. This allows patients to be effortlessly and safely introduced to the OR through the patient airlock.

Flexible and secure

Thanks to the unique "my.LIGHT" light management system with special color coding at the base of the table, the patient orientation and more is clearly recognizable by the user. Thus, the side of the table base at which the patient's head is located is always illuminated in blue. This ensures easy and safe handling at all times, even under operating conditions and in the reverse position. User safety is further increased by clearly indicating the current stage of a procedure, such as a position changeover, by means of color coding: If the table base lights up yellow, a procedure has not yet been completed, if it lights up green, it has been successfully completed. The status of battery charge is also visible in color: If the table base is red, the battery needs to be recharged. In addition, my.LIGHT facilitates manual operation of the operating table by illuminating the position of the foot pump.

The illuminated keys on the hand control unit make a further special contribution to intuitive and safe control: Only the keys that can be used in the current situation are illuminated. This minimizes operating errors. In addition to the three most common pre-installed table positions Flex, Beach-chair and Wake-up, up to five additional positions can be stored via the memory function in the hand control. This allows users to adjust the optimal table position and orientation in just a few simple steps.

The Sim.MOVE 800 is 100 percent capable of integration, it is prepared for all OR integration systems and is one of the first OR tables to support the SDC standard. SIMEON Medical thus makes a further contribution to the networked OR.

Practical study confirms ease of use

To test the real-world suitability of the Sim.MOVE 800, a comprehensive usability study was conducted at the Institute of Medical Technology at RWTH Aachen University in cooperation with the University Hospital of Aachen under the direction of Dr. Armin Janß. Particular emphasis was placed on the patient positioning display provided by "my.LIGHT" and the hand control. "The "my.LIGHT" functions eliminate operating errors to the greatest possible extent and increase safety when using the operating table in everyday surgery. The control is quick to learn and easy to memorize. We can therefore confirm the user-friendliness of the table based on our study," says Dr. Armin Janß.

The Sim.MOVE 800 operating table will be available from the second quarter of 2021. The operating table rounds off SIMEON's portfolio of surgical equipment, which also includes SIMEON surgical lights, camera systems, a video management system, and ceiling-mounted supply units. "The development of the Sim.MOVE 800 is a real milestone for us. This allows us to further strengthen our position as a solution provider for the entire hospital and make everyday working life easier for operating room staff," explains Dr. Markus Keussen, Managing Director of SIMEON Medical.
